A matchless voice, an outstanding pianist,
astounding poems and music, a unique duo for sure !
From its beginning in the fall of 2013, the artistic empathy between Claudia Solal and Benoît Delbecq has been an evidence. The first concerts they performed together took place in November 2015, during a tour organised by The Bridge association in Chicago together with the Antichamber Music quartet, circling around poems by James Joyce (with bassoonist Katie Young and cellist Tomeka Reid). The band recorded at the ESS Studio in Chicago and released its record on the Between the Bridges label in February 2019.
Ultimately they decided to keep going as a duo too. They found themselves recording almost two handful of imaginary and improvised songs based on Claudia's texts which have evocative titles like No Sake Tonight, Inner Otherness, Burning Green, Ultimate Embrace... The singular alchemy of their duo has given birth to a cosmic and timeless chant, at play with all transparencies, an impetuous and powerful music, unrehearsed therefore deeply intuitive, shifting and moving music.
